The European Union Drinking Water Standard in draft form has removed any upper limit for silver in drinking water following the World Health Organization's "Guidelines for Drinking Water Quality" which states, "It is unnecessary to recommend any health-based guidelines for silver as it is not hazardous to human health." FDA's Final Rule - Over-the-Counter Drug Products Containing Colloidal Silver The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is issuing a final rule establishing that all over-the-counter (OTC) drug products containing colloidal silver ingredients or silver salts for internal or external use are not generally recognized as safe and effective and are misbranded.
